Master Teachers – Salman Khan

The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit educational organization created by Salman Khan. With the stated mission “of providing a high quality education to anyone, anywhere”, the Academy supplies a free online collection of just under 2,000 videos on mathematics, history, finance, physics, chemistry, astronomy, and economics.

Salman Khan holds  three technical degrees from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School. “In late 2004, Khan began tutoring his cousin in mathematics using Yahoo!’s Doodle notepad.  When other relatives and friends sought his tutorage, he decided it would be more practical to distribute the tutorials on YouTube.”

The video collections begin with arithmetic, continue through algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus  and differential equations.

We carefully select from these short videos what is most suitable for a class , a study session or for deliberate practice.

They are perfect in our program for  repeating the introduction of concepts and supplementing the review of worked example problems.  You can “see” and follow how to think about the problem as it is worked out in real time.

Here are three sample videos:  Basic Addition       Equation of a Line      Introduction to Angles.

Best of all – they are free for you to use!
